Updates
Sorry I haven’t updated in ages. I was googling Miss Texas Something or Other U.S.A. when I stumbled on another current, semi local, same topic blog. and the thought of other current contestants reading detailed posts of my progress gave me a a strange feeling, so I stopped.
I have slowly been increasing my work outs and eating much better/Greener! This week I hope to attend a class at...

Namaste
Yesterday, I had my first yoga class at the YMCA. Today, I am sore.
The good? The yoga is effective. The bad? If beginners yoga kicked my butt, I have a long way to go till I’m “fit.”
I really enjoyed the yoga class. I wish they offered more than one class a week at a time that I can attend (not between 8 & 5.) The instructor, Wendy, was wonderful and cheerful! She...

It's fun to stay at the Y. M. C. A...
I worked out last night at the YMCA on a three day pass, I plan on joining soon and I’m trying it out first to make sure I like it. I loved the cardio room with it’s cardiovision, small TVs at every station. Excited to try the Yoga class on Wednesday night. I haven’t had a yoga class since college.
A note on my fitness. I started running in January, several months before I knew...

I have a potential full sponsor!
Someone has offered to sponsor me and we have a meeting on Monday. I don’t know how much he is considering donating but I am working up a Pageant Expense sheet so as to give him an idea how expensive the pageant is.
Please…
Keep your fingers crossed!

The Big Debate!
Bangs or No Bangs?
You’d be surprised how many people (including strangers) have a strong opinion on whether I should grow out my bangs or leave them for the pageant.
Last night my hair stylist, Beauty Girl, was accosted in the ladies room by a random woman, unhappy with her oppion that I grow them out.
Out of curiosity, what’s your vote?

Things are feeling a bit like I’m in the calm before the storm. I can see the rush of activity that is about to begin. My list is growing fast and I haven’t even begun to check things off yet!
The thing I really need to work on TODAY is Sponsors!
Other pressing things on my list include:
looking for an evening gown
playing with hair color
joining a gym, I think I’ve settled...

Volunteering
Already this pageant is having a major effect on my life. With almost every action I take, I now ask myself, “How does this impact me?” And not only physically, which was obviously the first thing I began consciously working on. You see, I have been reading bios of previous pageant participants and realized just how very active they are in their communities. I have talked about getting more...

Miss Texas USA Pageant here I come.
I dropped my form, officially accepting the title Miss Ector County USA and agreeing to participate in the Miss Texas Pageant, plus my two hundred dollar down payment, in the mail today. No going back. Friday I decided was the day to decide, officially commit. And I became a bundle of nerves! My stomach dropped into my shoes and I felt like I was climbing up the biggest hump before the final drop...

Not a (typical) pageant girl.
I have a friend who competed in the Miss Texas USA Pageant as Miss Ector County in 2007. After telling her about my desire to someday become a motivational speaker for young girls to encourage natural beauty, health and positive body image, she enthusiastically filled out an online application for the Miss Texas USA Pageant for me. If the age limit hadn’t changed this year, I would have been too...
