Things are feeling a bit like I’m in the calm before the storm. I can see the rush of activity that is about to begin. My list is growing fast and I haven’t even begun to check things off yet!
The thing I really need to work on TODAY is Sponsors!
Other pressing things on my list include:
- looking for an evening gown
- playing with hair color
- joining a gym, I think I’ve settled on the Y
I can’t begin to work on these other things with out money, or at least an idea of what my budget will be. After all, I am already making payments to the pageant. I’m just so nervous about talking to sponsors, and asking for money. I don’t have much experience with this type of fundraising.
My sponsorship ideas so far:
- going to small businesses, telling them about the pageant, my personal reasons for participating, and requesting donations.
- Offering larger businesses my time for publicity appearances in exchange for sponsorships (eek!)
- I have a friend who has suggested I talk to the local minor league baseball team about doing doing an appearance at a game (mixed with a lil self publicity.) I’m not sure if this is feasible but it could lead to more sponsorship options.
- “Selling” head shots with a matte frame that says “Miss Ector County, USA” similar to the ones cheerleaders sell.
All of that is MUCH easier said than done, and most of those ideas sound personally mortifying. So finding sponsors in it’s self should be a good learning experience.
